Comcare is Commission on Catechesis and Religious Education.
There are four (4) public schools located in Barangay Sucat – three (3) elementary schools and one (1) high school – with a total population of close to 6,000.
The Catechists teach in these schools so that the children may know the practice of our faith, and also prepare them to receive the sacraments of Confession, First Communion, and Confirmation.
Presently, three (3) professional catechists, four (4) lay volunteers, and four (4) DCV volunteers do this work.
The more visible activities of the catechists in the parish are the talks they give to prepare the parents and sponsors before the regular weekly Baptisms; or those at the respective fiestas of the sub-parishes, the seminars for parishioners who wish to be confirmed at the annual Confirmation during our fiesta month, and the monthly catechesis to prepare couples who wish to receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
Two communities of nuns in our parish – the Daughters of the Crowned Virgin (DCV) and the Franciscan Hospitaller of the Immaculate Conception (FHIC) – help in catechizing the children in our different puroks and sitios during Sundays of the year and everyday during the month of May (Flores de Maria).
Recently, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul (DC) help in the Sunday Catechesis.
Thankfully, many high school and college students assist them in this endeavor because more than 1,000 children join during the Sunday catechesis and the Flores.
At the end of May, they receive notebooks, pencils, ball pens – the quantity of which depends on the amount donated by parishioners for the particular purpose.
In the year 2015, crayons were also given out but only to Grade 1 and Grade 2 students.
Funds from Piso Mula sa Puso and some through the generosity of some families were used to provide snacks to the children.
Come and support our COMCARE! God bless you.
